On The Hunt

I adore animal photography, and cats are definitely the best of all. The close up angle and the eyes add such a forceful boundary, a kind of limitation to the viewer that leaves you with the feeling that he knows you are there, yet since you are not his intent or focus, you are not truly there to him. The shot angle is fairly common as it lends to the wildness of the animal. The fact that you have edited it to be in black and white adds depth and seriousness to the cat, making its intent gaze all the more the focus of the photograph; without this, the focus would have been divided between that and the cat's tortoiseshell fur. However, the eyes have an added element in black and white, as you can clearly see the variation of the colors in them, which is fairly unusual and not something you tend to notice.
All in all, quite frankly the best cat closeup I have seen in well over a year. It's stunning, deep, and absolutely (what is the word... o.o ) captivating.
