At the moment, the sun is too bright and the area the people are in is too dark.

This would work better as two images, one the sunset and the other the people.

With the sunset:
I would have used a polarizing filter and taken the exposure down a stop or two to stop the sun and the reflection on the water to from being blown out. The colours in the sky and the water are having the attention drawn away from them by the white blown out bits from the sun.

With the people:
I would have slightly increased the exposure and maybe shot them at a slightly different angle; from further right to increase the brightness of the sky, but making sure to crop tightly so that the sun wouldn't have actually been in the photo. because at the moment, the area near the people is too dark and they just get swallowed up by it.

Silhouettes and sunsets are aren't very orginal so for your photo to stand out, you must have done it in a way not seen before or you have to get a really stunning photo.

You take beautiful pictures. I hope to get into Photography in college to work with my digital art designing. I'm really into photo manipulations right now (I think you liked one of mine.. Morning Glory?).
