Although a common idea, this was protrayed nicely, but it wasn't the most original reindition. The light and dark contrast was a swell idea, but the sun was too bright, so I would have reccomended using a filter to dim the radience, or croping most of the sun and it's reflection out by mentally splitting the picture into thirds vertically and cropping that first section. I'm glad you got this at somewhat of an angle, rather than having the camera facing the sun head on, which would look like a sterotypical, corny sunset photo taken on someone's vacation along a beach. The clouds are a great touch, effectively smoothening the transtition from light to dark. I think, as a tip for next time, you could try to get the camera facing the backs of the people, to show the sunset from more of their perspective while keeping them in the shot.
